This poem began as a question I found myself asking — not of a stranger, but of the person I see in the mirror every morning. Someone who knows all the right things. Who can recite, without hesitation, that we came from dust and return to dust, that we brought nothing and will take nothing. And yet — the bag of self-interest is packed and ready. The head is raised in pride. The integrity has been quietly mortgaged for reputation.
We are all so wise. And yet.
आफैंसम्मको यात्रा is not a comfortable poem. It does not offer easy reassurance. It asks, honestly and without flinching, where our striving is actually taking us — and whether the journey we are so busy making is the one we were meant to make at all.
It ends not in arrival but in prayer. Because that, perhaps, is the most honest place any of us can stand.
स्वार्थको झोला भिरेर, अभिमानको शिर उचालेर, कहाँसम्मको यात्रा हजुरको?
प्रतिष्ठाको भोक पालेर, निष्ठा बन्धक राखेर, कहाँसम्म हो यात्रा हजुरको?
एकछिन रोकिनुस्, अलि लामो स्वास लिनुस्, आँखा चिम्लनुस्, संसार बिर्सनुस्
संघर्ष भन्दै, प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्दै, कतै बाटो बिर्सियो? अलय भयो यात्रा हजुरको?
जसले बनाए स्नेहले–करुणाले, उनले दिएको कार्य पो हो कि हजुरको?
केहीबेर रोकिनुस्, आफूभित्र नियाल्नुस्, आफैंसम्मको यात्रा हो कि हजुरको?
हराए झैं लाग्छ अन्धकारभित्र – हतास म हुन्छु, भाग्न मन लाग्छ
म मनको पो हुँ कि? बुद्धि म हुँ कि? झन् भित्र, झन् गाह्रो यात्रा हजुरको
नछोडे आसक्ति, नछोडे तिर्सना, अन्तरको यात्रा असम्भव हजुरको ।।
सांसारिकताको मिलमा पिसिंदै, पेलिंदै, पाक्दै, भवसागरमा मथिंदै
काम, क्रोध, लोभ, भय निवृत्त भएर जब अमृत बनुँला कञ्चन सरस
सदाशिव आई अवश्य पान गर्लान् – यहींसम्म हो कि यात्रा हजुरको?
जहाँ सुरु भयो, अन्त्य त्यही हो । संसार वाकिफ छ, संसार विद्वान छ
वाणीमा बग्ने यो सत्यको बोध चरितार्थ गर्न मलाई कृपा मिलोस्
निश्काम, निस्वार्थ, समर्पणभावमा हरपल अडिन चेतना बनोस्
सद् चित् आनन्द शिरमा हजुरको, परमब्रह्मको साथ, सुरक्षा हजुरको ।।
